John Mayer Trio Reunite On Late Night with Seth Meyers
. For trio's first TV performance in five years, they performed "After Midnight," the 1966 song which was made famous by Eric Clapton in 1970. Special guests Chick Corea, trumpet player Wallace Roney and drummer Manolo Badrena joined the Trio, made up of Mayer, bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan. For over four minutes, the band just jammed, with Mayer letting his guitar do most of the talking, occasionally chiming in to let the crowd know, "After midnight, we're gonna let it all hang out." The performance had more of a coffee shop/jazz show vibe, which was not lost on Mayer. The singer later took to Twitter to express his thanks to Meyers for giving him a chance to jam, writing "Cool on the part of @latenightseth to feature 4:30 of a song from the '70s played mostly instrumental."
