Blondie Covers the Beastie Boys at NME Awards
. Frontwoman Debbie Harry started by dancing and rapping along to "Rapture" for six minutes before she sped things up with the energetic "(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)" Earlier in the night, Harry and her bandmates were honored with the Godlike Genius award. As they accepted their prize, guitarist Chris Stein addressed their once strained relationship with the publication. "Thank you guys," he said. "Back in the old days, we had an adversarial relationship with NME. They used to rake us over the coals. But Karl Marx once told me there's no such thing as bad publicity." Afterward, Blondie performed a longer set which included the Beastie Boys cover as well as a span of their own versatile catalog. Watch the Beastie Boys cover here.
