Aaliyah Biopic To Reportedly Detail R. Kelly Relationship

. (Radio.com) It seems as if the new Aaliyah biopic, set to air on Lifetime, will have to find someone to play the role of R. Kelly. According to the New York Post's Page Six, the film will detail Aaliyah's rather controversial relationship with Kelly.

The two allegedly secretly married in 1994 when Kelly was 27 and Aaliyah was only 15 years old. The couple later denied the union, but a marriage certificate eventually surfaced with Aaliyah's age being falsely listed as 18. The technically illegal marriage was reportedly annulled by her parents.

"Aaliyah's personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored with care in the film as we set out to depict her life with the utmost respect," executive producer, Debra Martin Chase told The Post. "Above all else, it's our hope to inspire an entirely new generation with her music and larger-than-life talent." more on this story
