Martina McBride Releases 'If You Don't Know Me By Now' Video
. "I had heard that song my whole life but when you actually sing it and interpret it . . . I didn't realize," she told Radio.com. "For me, it had a sad meaning. The original version is a little more angry and intense. When I was singing it I just felt that it was really sad. These people had been together a long time. That song surprised me with the emotion when I sang it." Now, in a new video for the song, McBride transforms the 1972 angst-ridden classic into a tearful bedroom lament. McBride said the decision to cut pop and soul songs for her latest release came from her 2005 album, Timeless. "I made a record several years ago called Timeless that was a collection of country classics that I had heard growing up," she said. "I wanted to recreate that experience. It was such a musical, joyful record to make. I wanted to do something a little bit different so I recorded some of my favorite iconic pop and soul songs. People like Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison and Elvis [Presley]." Watch the video here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
