Singled Out: Jargon Party's Will You Space Tonight
. Hello there! "Will You Space Tonight" started out as a keyboard part that I had been messing around with for some time. I recorded it, and decided to come back to the track at a future date. a few months later, while putting the finishing touches on the album, the "Space Keyboard" file popped up. I picked up the guitar and came up with the riff after a few play throughs of the keyboard. It was all very random and haphazard, but everything seemed to click in the right spot. The bass and drums were added so all that was left were the vocals. The lyrics were completely different when the recording started. What I had written earlier no longer worked with the song. I started singing the first thought that appeared in my mind. "Can you see, can you see me." And after that I started just re-iterating on the themes of loneliness and obsession. I imagined someone just floating out in the ether, lost unto themselves, crying out to be found. I thought it fit well with the spacey sound of the song. I ended it with a whistle to show a resignation to one's own thought, and that all of that sadness may just be exaggeration. It's possible to get wrapped up in melodrama and sadness, and to miss the beautiful space all around. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
