Weird Al Releases 'Sports Song' Video

In the case of Mandatory Fun, Weird Al took from the styles of Foo Fighters, Crosby Stills & Nash and more - as well as the traditional marching band theme song played at sports games, which is the focus of "Sports Song," his fifth music video in his eight-video series, released Friday (July 18). "Sports Song" finds Al and his band backed up by an entire army of a marching band, sauntering down the football field as they sing the praises of their team. You know, "their team." The team that's going to kick the butt of your team. Because your team is inferior. The amusing part of "Sports Song" is how it boils down every fight song you've heard at a sporting event to its most basic parts: we're better than you, our team rules, yours sucks. "We're great, and you suck!" Yankovic sings in the clip, hosted by Funny or Die, as the crowd cheers on, smashing beer mugs and generally having a raucous time applauding their team that - "full disclosure" - might not actually be that great.
