(Radio.com) After disbanding in 2001, college rock vets Afghan Whigs have recently been rumbling around the country playing reunion shows, including most notably an unannounced duet with Usher at South by Southwest in 2013. Now, Greg Dulli and the band have announced their official return with their first new album in 16 years.

Do to the Beast will be out April 14 in Europe and April 15 in North America via Sub Pop. It is the band's first album since 1965 released in 1998 on Columbia.

Dulli spoke with SPIN in 2012 about reforming Afghan Whigs, saying, "I did this acoustic tour about a year and a half ago and [Whigs bassist] John Curley did six of the shows with me, and we had a great time. We hadn't spent any time on the road together since the band.

"In the spring, I spent a couple days in Minneapolis with [Whigs guitarist] Rick McCullom, and that was also a great time. Plus, I had nothing really pressing this summer, so it gives me something to do. "

The Whigs will be playing both weekends of Coachella, and you can check out the album art for the album here.
