(Gibson) Since 1989 the Allman Brothers Band has played more than 220 shows at New York's Beacon Theatre. On March 7, the southern rockers will begin yet another 10-show residency at the legendary venue. Still, Gregg Allman's enthusiasm for the Beacon gigs remains as strong as ever.

"These last few years, we do the Beacon and then we do one month on the road in the summertime and that's about it," says the veteran singer, speaking to Rolling Stone. "And then everybody goes off to their own respective solo bands. It's getting more seldom that we get together, you know? It makes you really look forward to it."

2014 is shaping up to be an eventful year for Allman fans. In February, the Allman Brothers Recording Company will release Boston Common 8/17/71, a live album that captures a show staged less than three months before Duane Allman's tragic death.

On February 18, Epic/Legacy will issue the 2-CD live set Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre 1992, plus a DVD titled Live at the Great Woods featuring a show from 1991.

In addition, shooting begins this month for Midnight Rider, the film adaptation of Gregg Allman's 2012 memoir, My Cross to Bear. The film stars All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter as Gregg and Wyatt Russell as Duane. "The two of them and the director flew out to my house for a couple of days and they're coming on the road with me when I go on tour," Allman told Rolling Stone. "[I said] 'Just watch and take notes.'" more on this story
