Nas Documentary To Open Tribeca Film Festival

Directed by One9 and Erik Parker (a former Radio.com staffer), the doc will delve into the making of the now classic album, the social conditions that created it and the role Nas' Mississippi-born father and celebrated jazz musician, Olu Dara played in his music. In a statement, Nas said it was honor to premiere the film in his hometown and thanked the filmmakers for their "persistence and hard work." "Those guys and I come from the same place and era, which gives the doc an authenticity that is important to me," the rapper said. "We wanted this film to represent the real, from the storyline all the way down to the directors and producers."
