(Radio.com) Hip-hop star Nas' life as a nascent rapper in the 1990s is about to be the subject of a new half-hour TV currently in development at Xbox Entertainment Studios.

According to Deadline, the show, titled Street Dreams, will look at "music, family, and the trials of the rap game," based on Nas' experience growing up in the notorious Queensbridge house projects in New York.

The show will be written and directed by Jonathan Levine, best known for the 2008 comedy The Wackness, which won the Audience Award at that year's Sundance film festival. Nas will have his hand in writing as well as music for the series.

The news arrives as Nas is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his classic 1994 debut, Illmatic, with a string of performances of the album in its entirety. more on this story
