Today Richard Sjunnesson from The Unguided tells us about the song "Inception" from their brand new album "Fragile Immortality," which was released this week. Here is the story:

Basically this track was one of the early ones we wrote for "Fragile Immortality". I eyed it out to be the opening song initially and it's been treated like that during the whole process. It was never really intended to be a single track however, until half of the band dug it so much we had to consider it and later on when the label really wanted it for the single, we were pretty much all convinced. Why it works well as a single is because it's pretty much a straight to the point, accessible song, with a catchy and hooky chorus. Many of the other songs being a bit more complex, this one is stripped down to have the function to just grab the listener by the throat and have solid chokehold until the last beat.

Musically it's a bit of co-operation between our main songwriter; Roger and our bass player Henric. I think Henric came up with the intro riff and then it just developed from there, soaked with electronics and a really catchy keyboard lead that just keep going . Lyrically it's one of the seven concept song on the album. Carrying the story of a group of fallen angels in conflict, and their battle for mankind's survival in this dark world, as they are the last dam between the mortals and the wrath of God. The wrath of God being a form of deluge spawned out from his disappointment in his own creation. It's pretty fictional literally. But basically it's just a very metaphoric diary of what have been going down in my own life the past few years. The recording process of the song was pretty intense, since we worked hard on the rhythmic flow of the screaming vocals and then had a lot of text to base the melodies on, which at times can be a hard nut to crack. It's basically just a big puzzle of words waiting to be laid in best way possible. The chorus melodies and massive text required a lot of thought but in the end we solved the riddle and we think it came out great! That's that. I'm really happy it turned out to be the single and it's a good gateway into the rest of the album for sure.

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
