Randy Travis Makes First Public Appearance Since Surgery

(Radio.com) Randy Travis is definitely "gettin' better," at least if a recent Facebook post from fellow country singer Neal McCoy is any indication. McCoy posted a photo that shows Travis backstage at one of his recent shows, a Smiles for Life concert in Dallas, Texas. Travis is seated in what appears to be a wheelchair, well groomed and dressed in a black jacket, striped shirt and a gray scarf.

McCoy posted the image on his official Facebook page on Feb. 7 and wrote that it was taken backstage "before I went on." He said he was "pretty honored" at the visit, as "this was Randy's first time out and his first time to have Cowboy boots on since his illness."

He also posted the image on his Twitter account: "@randytravis recently before I went on stage. Honored his first time out, and with Boots on, since illness! http://t.co/ygmXwKxBWK"

The photo with McCoy is the latest in a small series of updates that have surfaced recently regarding Travis, who was hospitalized last summer, underwent surgery and suffered a stroke. Last month, Travis family friend Anthony Maurizio posted some recent photos on his Twitter account that showed Travis up and about. And in Closer Weekly, Travis's father Harold Traywick is quoted as saying that "he's getting his voice back now, little by little."

Singer/songwriter Bonnie Paul also related that Travis was improving. In addition, Paul even revealed a demo version of a song she had written a few years back with Travis called "Childhood Sweethearts," featuring the legendary singer on lead vocals. See the photo here.
