(Radio.com) Backstage at this year's We Can Survive concert in Los Angeles, Pharrell Williams hinted at imminent new music from his notorious alt-rock band, N.E.R.D.

The first seeds of that band's reunion have emerged in the form of new song, "Squeeze Me," slated for the soundtrack to the upcoming SpongeBob SquarePants big screen outing, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.

Chad Hugo, Williams' longtime partner in pop production powerhouse duo the Neptunes and N.E.R.D member spoke on the new track during a recent interview with Variety: 'We're trying not to think too much in a cartoon sense, but more just like a psychedelic, otherworldy type of thing. If you want to draw a parallel, maybe think of what the Beatles did with 'Yellow Submarine.'"

The track boasts a bouncy, tropical rhythm and kid-powered background chants atop a minimal production that references the classic early '00s "Neptune sound" that rocketed songs from a slew of pop stars including Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Usher to the top of the charts.
