Blackberry Smoke Frontman Explains New Album Cover

(The Blues) Blackberry Smoke frontman Charlie Starr has explained the cover artwork of upcoming album Holding All The Roses. It shows a mule who's won a race against high-powered cars, while just a handful of people watch proceedings. And Starr says it's a metaphor for competition in all walks of live.

He explains in the video: "It was a stroke of genius on drummer Brit Turner's part. We were discussing the meaning in the lyrics of Holding All The Roses. The song's about in a race or a contest - if there's a feeling of competition and you feel like you're winning, what is it that you actually win? We're all winners - but if we all win, who cares?"

Blackberry Smoke released a video for their track Let Me Help You (Find The Door) earlier this week. Holding All The Roses will be launched on February 9 via Earache Records. Stream the full video interview here.
