47 One Direction Fans Treated for Asphyxia at Concert

(Radio.com) A One Direction concert in Peru proved dangerous to 47 young fans who were treated for asphyxia. Over the weekend, tents were used as emergency treatment centers at Estadio Nacional stadium in Lima after concertgoers rushed to get close to the front of the 40,000 capacity stadium.

While One Direction urged the crowd to calm down during their performance, the pushing never stopped, and up to 47 fans were treated after the show.

"We treated 47 children aged 12 to 15 for symptoms of asphyxia," Mario Cassareto, the head of Peru's fire service, told Peruvian radio. According to Sky News, One Direction repeatedly warned fans to calm down or they would be forced to end their concert early.

"If you don't want anyone to take us off the stage, make sure you stay back," Niall Horan told fans. more on this story
