2 Chainz Releasing Freebase EP
. The five-song release is heralded as a return to form for 2 Chainz, an album that recalls the street-flavored rap on which he originally made his name. "It has been a minute since the release of my album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time and I wanted to give something special to my fans while I record my follow up album," the man born Tauheed Epps said in a statement. "This is a taste of what is to come, and is most importantly, for them." A trailer accompanying the release finds the rapper among drug imagery; the term "freebase" can refer to the smoking of cocaine or heroin in its free base form. The EP's fan-oriented mantra stems from 2 Chainz's crowd sourcing of the album's cover via Instagram. After over 10,000 applicants submitted ideas for the cover, the rapper and his team narrowed down to four before deciding on the final cover, which features Richard Pryor reclining on a bed with two gold chains around his neck.
