Janis Joplin Musical Opening Postponed

. (Radio.com) A planned Off-Broadway musical celebrating Janis Joplin has been tabled for the time being. Rolling Stone reports (via the Associated Press) that A Night With Janis Joplin, a musical featuring the classic rock singer's biggest hits that was slated for an opening this week at the Gramercy Theatre in New York, has been postponed indefinitely.

Producers are citing "production issues" as the culprit for the delay. A timetable for its debut has not yet been released. Ticket refunds have been offered.

The production stars Mary Bridget Davies as Joplin. The actress previously portrayed her in the 2006 Off-Broadway musical Love, Janis and toured with the singer's old band, Big Brother & the Holding Company, the same year. more on this story
