Red Hot Chili Peppers and Mars Volta Supergroup Debut Song
. The group released a trailer and rehearsal video yesterday (April 9) via X-Games and Southern California clothing retailer Tilly's YouTube channel's channels, oddly filed under "Comedy." Today, the band made their first single, titled "4AM", available on iTunes. Guitarist Rodriguez-Lopez and vocalist Bixler-Zavala have had an on-again, off-again relationship since forming At the Drive-In 1993. After briefly reuniting as the band at Coachella and Lollapalooza in 2012, little was known about the duo's future together. According to a tweet from Flea this morning, he recorded several tracks with the group. It's not the first time he's had some sort of connection with Rodriguez-Lopez and Bixler-Zavala; he played bass on the Mars Volta's 2003 debut De-Loused in the Comatorium and contributed trumpet to that album's followup, Frances the Mute. Flea tweeted "Woke to find out I'm in a new supergroup. Hahahaha. Played on some tracks a few weeks ago with my friends omar and Cedric for love that all". Check out a stream of their first single here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
