Deadmau5 Trolls Martin Garrix At Ultra
. While many believed the campy remix to be the work of Deadmau5 himself, the "Old MacDonald" version of "Animals" was created by a producer who goes by the moniker McMaNGOS and calls it the "Funnymals Edit." Deadmau5 played the edit during the slot he took over for ailing DJ Avicii, who was forced to cancel after being rushed to a Miami hospital last Thursday (March 27) with severe stomach pain, leading to the "Wake Me Up" producer having to undergo gallbladder-removing surgery. EDM fans on social networks were divided over Deadmau5 spinning the comedic remix during his dark, techno-leaning set that eschewed many of the more popular tracks that enjoyed multiple plays from many of the other Ultra DJs over the weekend. Among those who didn't seem to find it funny was superstar DJ Tiesto, a good friend and mentor to Garrix, a fellow Dutchman. On Twitter, Tiesto first applauded Deadmau5 playing Avicii's smash hit "Levels" as the "highlight" of his set, but then questioned whether Deadmau5 was "being sarcastic" when he played it. While Tiesto never came out and directly chastised Deadmau5 for the "Old MacDonald" remix, he did make a point to call out "Animals" as an "epic track" and labelled Garrix as a "super talent." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
