Allman Brothers Band frontman Gregg Allman has revealed a string of North American solo tour dates that will be taking place this fall and winter and may begin work on a new solo album soon. The tour wasn't officially announced on Allman's website but the new dates were posted and they are scheduled to kick off on October 11th in Montgomery, Ala and the final date takes place on January 8th in Sarasota, Fla. Allman also recently spoke with the American Blues Scene about his plans for a new album. In the interview he talked about the initial delay of the album work with T Bone Burnett, and also where he wants to take the project musically.
At the time of the interview in July, Allman was looking at possibly working on the album this year but with the new tour dates that may have changed (though he only has two dates announced for November). He said at the time, "I had a date to do it with [Burnett] in May we weren't gonna do blues though. Anyways, I call him and talked to him about postponing it 'til September and looks like the 9th month is too much touring, so November?" Allman also discussed the direction he might want to go on the new album. "What I always wanted to do" he said. "I always wanted to do a record merely called 'All Compositions By' and just have my name. I'd like to do a record where I wrote every one. It's probably a goal of every songwriter in the world. Do one record that you totally create." "I mean, you have hundreds if you needed it, different players with you but you write it all!"
