How Nervo Got Into The DJ Game
. NERVO penned David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's collaboration "When Love Takes Over," a huge pop hit. They've also performed at some of the biggest festivals in the worldElectric Daisy, Ultra, the Voodoo Experienceand earned themselves residencies at some of the hottest clubs including Ushuaia in Ibiza. Not to mention the fact that Liv and Mim's faces are plastered all over the place thanks to Covergirl, who last year enlisted the duo to represent their brand alongside the likes of Pink, Janelle Monae, Ellen DeGeneres and Sofia Vergara. As the sisters tell it the two complete each other's sentences fairly oftenit was "When Love Takes Over" that was really a game changer for them. According to Billboard, it was 2009′s No. 1 dance song, and as the two told Radio.com, it led to them getting a record deal. "It gave us a kick in the butt to go out there and do it ourselves," Liv said. Adding, "It was David [Guetta] who was like, 'Girls, you understand house music, you it, go out and do it.'" And so they began DJ-ing in public, but doing it the old fashioned way. While many big name EDM stars mug from behind their boards and hit play, the sisters said that they felt it was important to learn to beatmatch- the art of making a seamless mix of multiple songs so no one gets up and leaves the dancefloor. They note that they don't decide what songs to play in advance, but instead read the crowd and react to them. They also started recording their own songs. But the ladies haven't only been creating the beats on newer songs like "Hold On" and "You're Gonna Love Again," they've also been getting on the mic. "Recently we've been singing on a lot of our records, but the intention is never to become singers," Liv explained. "But we think maybe when we release the album, we might do an unplugged [performance]." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
