A$AP Rocky Apologizes For Alleged Homophobic VMA Behavior
. A$AP Rocky's message to the VMA audience was about A$AP Ferg's album Trap Lord being in stores now. This was the "I don't pop molly/ I rock Tom Ford" of illogical transitions in award presentations, and it didn't help that Rocky was mugging to some fans during Collins' speech. Rocky later said, as he was introducing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' performance of "Same Love," "The next artist is a good friend of mine he stands up for everything he believes in as far as everybody being equal, colored, [points to Collins] homosexuality" Innocuous, perhaps, but this caused a bit of a stir. Not only was the tone of the moment very incongruous, but Rocky's reactions, physicality and gestures on stage did not paint him in the most tolerant light. In a recent interview with The Stashed, Rocky clarified and apologized to Jason Collins for his behavior: "I'm mad that my facial expressions was like that because I'm not homophobic at all, and that whole thing just came off real homophobic," said Rocky. "I didn't really notice it until I got home and saw it. I apologize to Jason for that, because people was laughing and sh*t, and you know I really don't think that's funny. I saw they were making all the memes and pictures and making fun of him. There's people out there that think I was doing that to be funny, and truthfully I got gay people in my family. I don't give a f**k if you gay or you not, I just found it odd that MTV wanted to stand me next to this ni**a when they are talking about gay people, that's all. You know what I'm saying?" more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
