Trent Reznor Bonus Nine Inch Nails Interview Goes Online
. First up is the group's installment of Vevo's Tour Exposed documentary series, a 13-minute video depicting the tense behind-the-scenes process of Nine Inch Nails preparing to launch the band's return to the stage at the Fuji Rocks festival in Tokyo, Japan, this past July. The camera follows Reznor and the cast of characters necessary to bring the technical and elaborate Nine Inch Nails show to life. The extensive crew includes band members, art director Rob Sheridan (who's also a member of NIN spin-off band, How to Destroy Angels), stage technicians and the multimedia masterminds of Moment Factory, who've worked with the band on their visuals since 2008. It's a highly collaborative process that at points turns contentious, with Reznor shown frustrated with aspects of the show during rehearsals just two days before the Fuji Rocks date. The clip culminates with the band pulling off a triumphant performance, despite having to play during heavy rainfall. "I love doing this stuff," Reznor says in the video following the festival show, "but it's incredibly stressful. It's fun, it's the part I enjoy." Diving even deeper into the inner-workings of Nine Inch Nails is a 40-minute clip of Trent Reznor talking about his music-making process that's taken from the Hesitation Marks bonus disc. As Consequence of Sound points out, "Trent Reznor, Conversation With" also contains an instrumental demo of a song that didn't make the new album, which he calls "one of my favorites that didn't get finished" Watch the interview video here.
