Kacey Musgraves Knew 'Merry Go Round' Would Succeed
. Musgraves said she knew she wanted "Merry Go 'Round" to be her first single because of the reception it received at her live shows. "I had people all over, it didn't matter if I was in Texas or if I was in Scotland or New York, people were coming up to me and just saying, 'That is my life.' I've realized it's not a small town thing, it's a life thing. We follow in our parent's footsteps because that's what we feel like we should do until we can figure out our own thing." Her new single, "Follow Your Arrow," is doing the same thing. A track that urges for gay acceptance, Musgraves is excited the song has finally been released. "'Follow Your Arrow' means a lot to me for a lot of different reasons. The message, it being so positive and uplifting for all kinds of people," she said. "Not only country music, but every other genre has been warm and receptive to me about the song and the record. I love the thought of championing people no matter what they're into." She added: "To me, country music has always been about real life, real things." As far as her go-to girl anthem? Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
