Today Smile Empty Soul's lead singer Sean Danielsen tells us about the song "False Alarm" from their brand new album "Chemicals," which was released this week! Here is the story:

Our new single "False Alarm" came together in a really strange way that's unlike any other song I've ever written. The normal writing process for me is typically something that takes anywhere from a few hours to a few months to complete, and I usually have a guitar to work with.

For "False Alarm" though, I actually wrote the chord progressions, melodies, and lyrics in my head in about 10 minutes while driving in the car. It was one of those moments of feeling inspired. I started coming up with ideas and recording the melodies into my phone, and writing down lyrics in the notes section.

It's songs that just uncontrollably flow out of you that make you realize writing is less about you coming up with some genius idea, and more about learning how to turn your brain off while tapping into something that already exists and channeling it through you.

By the time I pulled up to the place I was going I picked up a guitar that was there and put the pieces together. The result is our new single "False Alarm" and I think it came out great!

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
