Today 18-year-old singer songwriter Ali Isabella tells us about her new single "Taking My Own Sweet Time" from her brand new sophomore album "Ali" which was released this week. Here is the story:

"Taking My Own Sweet Time" is a fun, upbeat song that I wrote with Tony Coluccio. It's about letting life take you where it wants to take you and having an open mind. I believe in the concept that everything happens for a reason, so if you cast your worries aside and just enjoy life, everything is bound to fall into place.

What inspired this song is my recent graduation from high school. Many of my friends went on to college at the end of this summer, but I decided to defer a year to focus on my music. It's intimidating to be following a different path compared to everyone else, but at the same time music is my passion and I absolutely love being on stage. Even though it was hard to see my friends leave, I look forward to continuing my musical journey this year and I couldn't think of a better way to spend it. By taking this year off, I'm giving myself that chance to take advantage of all of my opportunities, as well as to see where my music takes me.

As my song goes, "I've got love right by my side [and] people who believe I'll fly." My friends and family have been such an incredible support system throughout this journey, and it's really because of their love and support that I'm continuing to follow my dream. At the end of the day, I have faith that with patience, hard work, and determination I'll get to where I need to be. I believe it's important to take the time to figure out who you want to be, so if "I've got the world in front of me," why not make the most of all of these amazing opportunities!?

Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
