In its first week, Red sold 1.208 million copies, making it the highest weekly sales number in a decade, and earning Swift the distinction of being the first female artist to sell over a million copies in an album's first week of release twice, since SoundScan began tracking sales figures in 1991. During the sold-out Red tour in the US, Swift would use a custom made Gibson Les Paul on stage when it was time to rock out.
