Janelle Monae Discusses Duet With Miguel
. Janelle told us she was grateful to have the opportunity to collaborate with Miguel for their new song "Primetime." She said, "I'm so thankful I could do a song with Miguel. I was such a big fan of "Adorn" and all the stuff that he was doing, and he was a fan of what I was doing as well. It was a pretty organic process when we were making the song. It's a love song, it's one of my favorite love songs of2013 AND 2014." Mr. Incognito told Janelle he loved the video to the "Primetime" as well. She told us, "It was directed by Allen Ferguson, he's done pretty much a lot of my videos, from my first video, "Many Moons," check that out. He did "Queen" as well. I have a song with Erykah Badu called "Queen" and he did that as well. We just received the MTV Video of the Year Award." Performing with Erykah Badu was inspirational to Janelle. She said, "I love her. I was honored to have her as part of the song. It represents the under dogs, those who are often times marginalized. We wanted to do a female empowerment song together and just highlight how two strong women, two strong black women, can come together and do something inspiring for the community. It was just great to work with her." Janelle's new CD, Electric Lady, "�will change your entire life. This album has love, it has God in it, it has jam, it has funk, it has soul; it has the things that you need. Storytelling, to help enlighten and empower you.
