Christina Perri Releases New Ballad 'Human'
. The track off her upcoming album, due out spring 2014, shows off Perri's ability once again to write an emotionally-charged ballad. This time around, Perri is sounding a bit more somber, telling her lover, "Your words in my head/Your knives in my heart/You build me up and then I fall apart," over a sparse piano melody. Back in January, Perri told Radio.com that her new material, which she wrote will on tour in 2011, will be "more mature." "I've grown so much as musician," she said. "I'm thinking of drum parts and basslines and things I've never thought of before. I feel like I've grown ten years in two." But at the same time, Perri explained that she's not looking to totally reinvent herself just yet. "It's me," she said. "I'm still writing them all so it's definitely going to sound like me and be consistent with album one, but I've had vocal chord surgery since album one, which made it so much better and stronger."
