Bonnie Raitt's Cinderella Story Came In the Nick of Time

(The Blues) Bonnie Raitt describes the success of 1989 album Nick Of Time as "Cinderella story," after it marked the end to a difficult decade in her career. The Grammy-winning release was her first with Capitol Records after she'd been dropped by her former label in 1983.

But Raitt tells the Edmonton Journal: "I wasn't expecting it, nor did I necessarily need it. I wasn't profoundly unsuccessful or coming from the depths of despair or having ruined my career or my health or any of that.

"I was just licking my wounds and dealing with finding some other people and waiting for the climate to open up again."

She says of her Grammy Awards experience: "They were an incredible validation and a wonderful nod from my peers. It felt unreal and wonderful to be able to tour in places and to larger audiences than I had except as an opening act." more.
