Singled Out: Honor By August's Last Chance
. "We started writing "Last Chance" on a summer day with our good friend, Garen Gueyikian of Kill The Alarm. We began with a drum loop and the chords played on a keyboard, taking turns singing different melodies. When I sang the first line of the chorus, "Last chance turn around, I'm looking for answers I never found," we knew we had our theme for the song. We often wonder how our lives would be different if we were someone else or if we had made different choices along the way. All the choices we make lead us to wherever we are in a given moment, and sometimes we find ourselves at a point of desperation. In that moment, if you're not yet ready to give up (and perhaps with a little help) you may find that you have a chance to turn it all around. "Last Chance" is a song about realizing you've hit a point along your journey where the next decision you make is crucial but you have the power to make a change for the better. The song went through a great sonic evolution from the original demo through the recording process to the single that you hear now. It was a really fun song to record in the studio. We used natural sounds like foot stomps and hand-claps and blended them with various guitar effects to create a sound that we felt really complemented the lyrics. The drums are so powerful and I love the way the chorus really hits you when it drops. Hopefully people can enjoy the experience of listening to the song as much as we enjoyed creating it." Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the band right here!
