Phillip Phillips Cancels Tour For Medical Reasons

. (Radio.com) Phillip Phillips is headed home mid-tour due to ongoing health problems. Following doctor's orders, the American Idol announced Monday (May 6) that he is cancelling the remaining nine dates of his current college tour.

He announced the news on Twitter and his Facebook page, assuring fans that the shows will be rescheduled. "Hey guys, due to doctor's orders I have to reschedule my last tour dates. They will be rescheduled! Looking forward to seeing you on Mayer!"

"His doctor said he has to get off the road," a source tells The Hollywood Reporter. "He was playing six shows a week, and it's too much for him."

It is unclear whether he will be well enough to attend the American Idol finale next week, but Phillips' doctor reportedly feels that the singer will be better come July, when his tour with John Mayer kicks off. more on this story
