As I Lay Dying Singer Arrested For Alleged Murder Plot

. As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis was arrested on Tuesday and stands accused of trying to hire someone to kill his estranged wife, according to the NBC affiliate in San Diego, Ca.

Lambesis was arrested after he allegedly asked an undercover detective to murder his estranged wife and was charged with solicitation of another to commit murder.

San Diego County Sheriff's Department told NBC that Lambesis was arrested at a business in the San Diego suburb of Oceanside, Ca without incident.

Police reportedly began their investigation last Thursday after they were tipped off that the singer was purportedly attempting to solicit someone to murder his wife.

A spokesperson for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department told Reuters, "the information came to us late last week. We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy."

Tim Pyles of local radio station FM 94/9 told the NBC affiliate that he was shocked by the news. "He's not the idealistic young Christian kid he once was, apparently," Pyles said. "Because that's what [As I Lay Dying] are: a straight-edged Christian metal band. He was a nice guy. I've had him on my show a couple times over the years. I just spoke to him via Facebook the last couple months about having him come on to talk about his latest record." Read the NBC report here.
