Where the lyric video for "Diane Young" unexpectedly courted controversy by featuring rare Saab automobiles on fire, the "Ya Hey" clip boasts images of people (including the band members) popping champagne bottle on a New York City rooftop. The song features the band's customarily oblique lyrics, with the spoken-word last verse alluding to a music festival DJ set, referring to both reggae artist Desmond Dekker and the Rolling Stones: "Outside the tents, on the festival grounds/As the air began to cool, and the sun went down/My soul swooned, as I faintly heard the sound/Of you spinning 'Israelites'/Into '19th Nervous Breakdown.'"
