(Radio.com) The Civil Wars may have taken their band name to heart when they split last November, but the duo's Joy Williams and John Paul White will deliver on their promise to release a second album. The country-folk band announced on its website yesterday that fans can expect the self-titled release this summer.

"I am very glad to say that new music is coming and I am finally proud of this album," said singer-songwriter Williams in a handwritten note posted on the site.

They also Tweeted the cover art of the album, which features billows of black smoke behind the band's name and album title, perhaps a symbol of their seemingly pugnacious spirit.

In the wake of their breakup last year, Williams and White cited "internal discord and irreconcilable differences of ambition," as written in a post on their Facebook page. The split forced the GRAMMY winners to cancel their entire fall 2012 tour, leaving fans with a confusing cliffhanger until today's announcement.

"I'm grateful for your patient support," Williams wrote. "A lot of soul, sweat and tears went into its creation. I hope you feel the heart in each song, that it might connect with yours. We are, each one of us, all journeying, learning and growing along this ever-evolving path." more.
