Devo's Alan Myers Dies From Brain Cancer
. Known for his metronomic precision, he played on the band's first seven albums and best-known singles, including the pioneering debut LP, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!, and the 1980 hit "Whip It." He left the band in 1986, frustrated by the group's increasing use of electronic drums. In recent years he had played improvisational music with his wife, Christine Myers, in a band called Skyline Electric. Tributes have been pouring in on Facebook and Twitter. Devo co-founder Gerald Casale called Myers "the most incredible drummer I had the privilege to play with for 10 years. Losing him was like losing an arm." Drummer Josh Freese, who began playing with Devo in 1996, tweeted: "An underrated/brilliant drummer. Such an honor playing his parts w/Devo.
