Skylar Grey Got Her Start Performing With Her Mom
. The "C'mon Let Me Ride" singer recently revealed to Radio.com how her music career began. "I grew up making music with my mom," Skylar confessed. "We made three albums by the time I was 14. Folk music, kids songs. And then I went solo because I was like, 'It's not cool to sing with mom anymore.'" Skylar explained that this taught her a great deal. "I got a lot of experience from doing that with my mom because I had to learn a lot as a young kid," she said. "How to be on when I felt like crap. How the show always must go on, no matter how bad things are. How to be professional. As a little kid I learned all that. So that was great." The 26-year-old has come a long way since sharing the stage with her mom. Now she's putting the final touches on her upcoming album Don't Look Down which is executive produced by Eminem.
