Saxon Is Not Spinal Tap
. Celebrated 1984 rockumentary-if-you-will This Is Spinal Tap pokes fun at the rock'n'roll lifestyle through documenting the career of its titular fictional band. And although Byford admits they shared anecdotes with Shearer, he says it doesn't follow that Spinal Tap are based on Saxon. "All of the Spinal Tap stuff really came from our former bass player, who made those connections and talked about it and all of that," The singer tells Noisecreep. "We definitely told some stories to Harry, and that perhaps made it in some form into the film. But there's not that big a connection between that sort of band and us. "I love This Is Spinal Tap but that's not really the music we make. I don't feel as close a connection as some people make it out to be." more on this story Classic Rock Magazine is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
