Beyonce Makes Chart History
. The singer debuted at No. 1 this week with her new self-titled "visual album" comprised of 14 songs and 17 videos selling over 617,000 copies. According to Billboard, Queen Bey made chart history with the record, which was exclusively sold via iTunes, becoming the first woman to hit No. 1 with her first five studio albums. The only other two acts who have debuted at No. 1 with their first five albums are rapper DMX and folk group The Kingston Trio. "I didn't want to release my music the way I've done it," Knowles said in a press release issued shortly after the album appeared on iTunes. "I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There's so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn't want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it's ready and from me to my fans." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
