Kenny Chesney Donates Song Proceeds to Boston Marathon Victims
. Proceeds from the track go directly to the Spread the Love Fund, which Chesney established through the Boston Medical Center earlier this year to raise money to pay for prosthetics and post-acute care needed by the Boston Marathon bombing victims. In April, Chesney created the foundation because he was horrified at the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15. "Music can be healing. When you're at your lowest, it can inspire the way these athletes, their friends, family and the city of Boston inspire me," Chesney said in a press release. "I want to give back to the ones who need it, but also to heal all of us a little bit. So, spread the love." In an interview with Rolling Stone, Chesney explained how the idea to donate the song's proceeds came to him. "I was having a day off in Florida when the Boston Marathon bombing happened and I just remember feeling so angry for all those people and wanting to do something to help," Chesney said. "But how do you undo that? It dawned on me what had been this incredible experience, writing with the Wailers, was something more an opportunity to heal spirits." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
