Guitarist Root and frontman Corey Taylor are members of both bands, but they'd been concentrating on Stone Sour after the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray derailed that outfit's career in 2010.

After a few years deliberating on their future, they'll release their first album without Gray next year � and Root has decided that project needs his attention most.
