Kacey Musgraves Tops Charts By Not Taking Herself Too Seriously
. The singer told Radio.com she hopes fans relate to the small-town themes on her album and the funny stories she tells about the people who live there. "I don't ever want to be taken too seriously," she said. "I love a song that makes people think, but I love to laugh tooif there can be a sarcastic tongue and cheek point in it then I love that." That's one of Musgraves' favorite parts of her first single, "Merry Go 'Round," which cleverly plays off the word merry. The idea came from a story her songwriting partner Shane McAnally's mom told her. "It started because Shane's mom was talking about one of her neighbors down the street," she said. "And she was like, 'I think she's selling either Mary Kay or Mary Jane or something down there.'" more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
