Capitol K Sets New Album Release
. The album was inspired by a 7000 mile road trip Kristian took across South America. We were sent this background info: Sonically informed by live sources and narratives created in there own psychical reality, Kristian Craig Robinson as Capitol K has traversed a spectrum of electronic aesthetics throughout 13 years and 5 albums with releases on Planet Mu, XL & Faith & Industry. A legend of contemporary electronica in the purest sense, Capitol K's genre mashing, globe trotting musical explorations have seen him receive a steady stream of critical praise... From receiving MOJO dance album of the month ("An illuminating journey, well worth taking") to an 8.4 from Pitchfork and much love from the dance press ("more ideas here than most have in their careers" - DJ magazine) Capitol K has fans in all areas of the media. The forthcoming new Capitol K album 'Andean Dub' (his 6th) was inspired by a road trip covering over 7000 kilometers of South America through the territories of Peru, Bolivia and Argentina. Meeting musicians, collecting instruments and market stall CDRs the trip was a fascinating experience and a chance for Kristian to dip his toes in the burgeoning alternative club scene of Buenos Aires whilst simultaneously tracing the wanderings of early 20th century South American metaphysical literature. The journey's creative manifestation was a mindboggling collection of experimental acid Cumbia, Psych & Lo-Fi Huayno followed by a series of live shows performed alongside Brazilian tropicalist Cibelle. These renditions, captured between temporal schedules, kept a place in his heart and in time received serious rotation from WFMU's DJ Rupture, crept into miscellaneous global mix-tapes and, when posted on K's Soundcloud page, they received thousands of plays from Mexico City to London, Lima to Tokyo. After a brief re-visit to the southern hemisphere Kristian was spurred on to gather these tracks together for release on his brand new album Capitol K album - 'Andean Dub' As a studio engineer and producer Kristian has worked with some of the biggest names in alternative music. Via his magical island studio on the Thames in Surrey he's recorded sessions with Bradford Cox (Atlas Sound), Aerial Pink and tune-yards. Kristian plays live in Domino Records' rock heroes The Archie Bronson Outfit and has just co-produced the forthcoming new album from weird rock titans Joe Gideon & The Shark.
