Wynonna Judd Maps Out Her Rockin' Christmas Tour
. Wynonna and her band The Big Noise will be performing a mix of classic Christmas favorites and her own holiday songs, plus some of her biggest hits. "Expect this Christmas tour to be different than the previous years. We'll still have the classics, but this year I'm ready to rock," exclaims Wynonna. Q&A What are your strongest childhood memories of Christmas? My strongest childhood memories of Christmas are of having so little and wanting so much! I spent a lot of time dreaming and hoping for great things to happen to my family and I. What holiday traditions did your family have as a kid, and what traditions to you have today? Every year we would cut down our Christmas tree and spend a lot of time baking. Most of our gifts were homemade from the treats to the ornaments and decorations. We still keep Christmas pretty simple. It's more about fellowship than material things. We have everything that we need. What is the meaning of Christmas, in your opinion? I am always so aware of those who have so little, especially children. I spend a great deal of time being of service to children and families in need. Christmas is about giving of our time and our hearts. How did growing up where you did shape your personality and outlook on life? We had only what we needed. There were very few extras. So, for me, living in Appalachia allowed me the chance to experience people who constantly hoped for a better way of living. What would you say to others about the importance of "giving back' during the holiday season? The one thing I have really learned about myself is that if I'm ever in a sad place in my life, giving of myself through service is a way for me to get out my own stuff and step into helping another. It changes the way I feel. It has always encouraged me and allowed me the opportunity to heal through my own challenges. 12/6 Newark, OH Midland Theatre
