Scorsese weaves together interviews with Harrison and his closest friends, performances, home movies, and photographs. Much of the material in the film has never been seen (or heard) before. George Harrison: Living In The Material World, was produced by Scorsese (through his Sikelia Productions banner), Olivia Harrison (through her Grove Street Pictures banner) and Nigel Sinclair (through Exclusive's documentary label, Spitfire Pictures). Earlier this year, the film was honored with the Critic's Choice Award for Best Documentary Feature and nominated for Best Documentary Film by British Academy of Film and Television Arts Award. A deluxe edition 2-DVD set of the film debuted at No. 1 in North America in its first week of release. The DVD remained in the Top 5 spots on the charts for 5 consecutive weeks. The critically acclaimed DVD is Harrison's third No. 1 release, his highest charting DVD and was certified platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. and double platinum in Canada. The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sunday, September 23 on ABC.
