(CBS Local) With diehard Blink-182 fans counting the days until the Dec. 18 release of their new Dogs Eating Dogs EP, the band has delivered an early holiday present by unveiling the first song from the record, "Boxing Day."

Backing up earlier claims that the EP would feature a folksier side of the band, the Christmas-themed "Boxing Day" is a break-up song reminiscent of older tunes like "Adam's Song," delivering gentle, emotional melodies powered on acoustic guitars and an understated beat from the usually hyper-kinetic drummer Travis Barker.

"Dogs Eating Dogs will be nothing like Neighborhoods, but it's also not just a return to the band's early releases," the band's singer and guitarist Tom DeLonge explained to Billboard. " Read more and listen to the song here.
