Kottonmouth Kings Singled Out Week: Judgement Day feat Saint Dog
. It is one of 18 on our new album "Mile High" and the track has a darker feel to it. It is a very intense and dramatic soundscape that sets a serious tone. "Judgement Day" is the day we will all face as mortal beings, when the time comes to meet your maker or leave your mark on the world. To answer for all of your actions, pay your karmic debt. The verses almost took on a autobiographical account of our lives. I open the song with the first verse, "I was raised on a lethal dose of punk-rock & hip-hop, mainlining wasted youth soap bars in tube socks. Vandalizing neighborhood , bullets in the shoebox ,money in my mattress, snapping on local cops, rapping to a beat box; unorthodox style points; dropping acid in the park -angel dust laced joints" It is just a song of reflection & redemption. I have seen so many friends wind up dead or in jail or strung out on drugs. Martin Zavala was one of my best friends growing up and he overdosed from heroin in a Placentia, CA . He tied one off and never woke up. His death sent me on a drinking binge and I broke out in hand cuffs. Punk-rock took a heavy toll on so many lives and it also smashed through the walls of society and changed the course of many generations. Hip-hop has done the same. I guess like everything it can be a blessing or a curse and I just try to find balance & peace living this insane lifestyle. My dad was a 20 year veteran for the USMC & didn't really dig punk-rock and the crazy life I was living. I thought that bong tokes would finally help me mellow out, but I'm worse than ever blasting rebel music drawing crowds all over the country. This was me rationalizing that performing in such a radical band was gonna bring some normalcy to my life. Here we are 17 years later the Kottonmouth Kings are still reeking havoc. I just hope that on 'Judgement Day', god will pass the joint my way. Tell me that my soul is saved. You can Love me or hate me, but I'll never change my ways. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
