Singled Out: MicLordz and Sauce Funky's My World
. We were sitting at one of our jam spaces and Matte and Roge were playing around with some chord progressions. AlerG and I were quietly listening and when we heard the first notes of the riff we stopped and were like "yo play that again!!" We started getting into the verse of the instrumental and Roge filled in the gaps with a great moving baseline. We were all digging the groove and we really wanted to simplify the drums. We really focused making the instrumental catchy and simple so the vocals would jump off it. We put the entire track together and recorded a demo. AlerG and I listened to the track numerous times and put major emphasis on writing a meaningful song. We played around with some different verses, but couldn't get the hook. One day shortly after that, my parents were asking me the famous question "how long are you gonna do music for? when are you gonna get a real job?" I was so upset and usually when I'm get pissed off I write my best. I listened to the demo over and over... came up with a melody for the chorus and the bridge. I had the first couple words "This is my life, This is my dream..." and was humming the rest. The next day I raced over to the jam space and Mike was sitting outside. I sang the hook to him and he began writing. He filled in the pieces that I didn't have with some very meaningful lyrics, especially the last words said in the song "you will remember my name." After the hook was finished it was easy to write our verses. In SLR Studios in Windsor Ontario Canada, where we record, the producer Martin Bak did some magic. He changed some of the structure of the song and wanted to put more emphasis on the melody and the hook instead of the verses so he cut some some of them out. We all came to consensus on the changes and did some different mixes until we found the right one. The verses, song structure and hook of my world are something that comes right from our hearts to the listeners ears and I think when people hear it they can feel it and relate to it. We hope from "My World" that people will remember our name. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
