Rex Brown No Longer in Down
. Down, featuring fellow ex-Pantera man Phil Anselmo, Corrosion of Conformity's Pepper Keenan and Crowbar members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower, are currently touring with Crowbar bass player Pat Bruders temporarily replacing Brown. Keenan was recently asked if Brown was still a member of the band and replied: "He's got things he needs to deal with, and we gave him an ultimatum and he's trying to work things out." But it seems the bassist has rejected their move he tells Metal Assault: "Kill Devil Hill is it. I'm not doing any Down. This is my devotion right here there's no side gigs or anything else that's going on. This is what it's going to be about for the future." (You can watch the video here, Rex makes the comment at the 4:05 mark.) more on this story [Update] To clear up some confusion we added a link to the interview with Rex above and Pepper's comments came from the Daily Times late last month, which said "Rex is not gonna be with us," said Keenan. "He's got things he needs to deal with, and we gave him an ultimatum and he's trying to work things out." When asked whether or not Brown was still considered a part of the band, Keenan was hopeful but hesitant. "I don't know what to really say on that; he's not out of the band, but he's not playing with us live." However, in the comment section below, Rex did comment and said, "THERE'S BEEN NO ULTIMATIM'S, FOR NOW I'M CONCENTRATING ON THIS KILLER NEW PROJECT. ONLY TIME WILL TELL...." Seems pretty straight forward, Rex is focused on his new band. As for his future with Down, thats up to the members of the band, but remember Down has been put on the back burner in the past while other members focused on their other bands. It looks like in this case, that wasn't an option for Rex. As for that new band, Rex isn't the only member really enthused about it.
