Bob Dylan Landmark Destroyed

. (Gibson) Bob Dylan fans are dismayed that the New York coffee bar where the voice of a generation wrote "Blown in the Wind" has painted over the bar's iconic sign. The legendary '60s folkie hangout, the Fat Black Pussycat, is now a restaurant and the owner has covered the old sign in red paint.

Andrew Berman, executive director for the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, is not impressed: "It's a tangible link to this incredibly important era in the neighborhood's history, when so many great musicians, poets and artists used the Village as a springboard to transform the world.'

But according to the Daily Mail, the owner has a different view: "There are buildings that are worth preserving. Ninety per cent of what's in the Village isn't. The Village was freedom. The Village was not rules and regulations set in concrete. It destroys everything the Village was always famous for." more on this story
